Analysis of Ozone Data by Photochemical Pollution Indicators in Colorado
نویسندگان
چکیده
In order to assess the situation with air pollution by ozone in Colorado region during sunny part of the year (April to September), recently introduced photochemical pollution (PP) indicators have been applied on acquired ozone data, i.e. hourly ozone volume averages. PP indicators show very low values at the majority of stations except for the two located in Denver and Arvada which are located in the centre of the highly populated area covered by this assessment. Some other stations (e.g. National Renewable Energy Labs) have somewhat high number of excess times during the growth period; total daily turnover of ozone is, however, rather low indicating absence of other photochemical pollutants (e.g. NOx) which, therefore, justify low values of PP indicators. Generally, our assessment method shows very low PP in the assessed area which is central, most populated part of the state of Colorado. (doi: 10.5562/cca2357)

Growth Season Photochemical Pollution over the UK Based on 1990-2006 Ozone Data
Ozone data from 13 rural and 11 urban sites for the growth season (April through September) during 1990-2006 have been analysed on the basis of recently introduced photochemical pollution indicators. The indicators predict that urban sites are prone to photochemical pollution, although compared to some rural sites, the urban sites have lower average ozone concentrations and showed lower values ...
متن کاملAssessment of ozone variations and meteorological influences in a tourist and health resort area on the island of Mali Lošinj (Croatia).
The purpose of this study was to investigate ozone, variations, and its correlation with meteorological parameters at a remote location on the Mali Lošinj Island, which has been a tourist and health resort area in the northern Adriatic. The measured data are discussed in relation to the EU guidelines (Directive 2002/3/EC; Directive 2008/50/EC). In order to characterize ambient air with respect ...
متن کاملA Reactivity Based Emission Inventory for the South Pars and Its Implication for Ozone Pollution Control
The South Pars zone in Iran encompasses the largest gas refineries and petrochemical complexes in the world. In the South Pars zone, elevated concentrations of reactive hydrocarbons co-emitted with nitrogen oxides from industrial facilities lead to substantial ozone production downwind. To understand the role of these emissions on the ozone formation and, to formulate appropriate control st...
متن کاملAir pollution and road transport in Europe. A cluster and a regression analysis among countries and cities
Based on data on pollution ambient concentration levels downloaded from AIRBASE, a European air quality database available on the internet from the European Environmental Agency (EEA), the paper firstly performs a descriptive analysis – mainly ranking and clustering on four pollutants strongly related to transport activities such as particular matter, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and benzene. Second...
متن کاملThe Evaluation of Tropospheric Ozone Formation in the Downwind of the South Pars Industrial Zone
Hydrocarbon Processing Industries (HPIs) emit large amounts of highly reactive hydrocarbons and Nitrogen Oxides to the atmosphere. Such simultaneous emissions of ozone precursors result in rapid and high yields ozone (O3) formation downwind. The climate of the Middle East has been shown to be favorable for O3 formation in summer. There are also vast activities in processing oil and gas in this ...
